Table games like baccarat, blackjack, and roulette have been in casinos for years. But many land-based casinos are now offering electronic table games.
These are designed to feel like machine-based versions of the authentic games. But the truth is that they feel more like slot machines, which I’m going to discuss below.
Most Aspects Look Like a Slot Machine
The first thing that jumps out regarding electronic table games is how they look. These are machine-based terminals that give you the ability to select betting options and play actions.
For example, a blackjack machine will let you choose how much you want to wager on the hand and when you want to hit, stand, split, or double down.
The one difference from slot machines is that you’ll see a large screen among the various terminals. This displays the cards that players use to make their actions.
But then again, some slot machines also have terminals like these for bonus displays. So these machines may not be so different after all.
Electronic Table Games Pay Based on RNG
Another similarity between slot machines and electronic table games is that the latter uses a random number generator (RNG). The RNG cycles through millions of number combinations to determine results.
Using electronic roulette machine, for example, the RNG would go through number combinations to determine spin results.
Machine-based gambling requires an RNG, because you can’t physically determine an outcome. There’s no roulette wheel or baccarat hand to decide a round.
In summary, electronic table games don’t feel so much like real blackjack or roulette. Instead, these games feel more like slot machine versions of the intended table game.
This isn’t to say that you won’t enjoy electronic table games. But don’t go into the matter feeling like you’re going to play a blackjack replica.
